PH5 SPUN TIERED THREE SHADE METAL PENDANT LIGHT BLUE

PH5 Spun Tiered Three Shade Metal Pendant Light blue puts a cool, saturated finish on one of the defining objects of Danish design. Rather than a single bowl, the lamp uses three spun-metal shades set one above the other, letting light travel down to the table and sideways into the room while blocking any direct view of the bulb. Poul Henningsen worked out the geometry in 1958.

The problem Henningsen set out to solve was glare from incandescent bulbs, and the tiered shades handle it through form alone. The blue edition hangs on a 12-foot white fabric cord and includes its mounting plate; it is hardwired, so professional installation is advised. Dimmer compatible and suitable for sloped ceilings, it takes one type A21 bulb up to 22 watts.
